By choosing to begin your application to ALU, you have taken an important step toward a life of purpose, impact, and leadership.
Our admissions process is designed to help us learn more about you, and help you understand exactly what you need to apply successfully.

Register on the ALU application portal. You will enter:

Stage 2 — Finances

If you indicate interest in financial aid, you will unlock this stage.

You will:

Mastercard Foundation Scholarships. Full-ride scholarship for: ALU GRANTS
Low-income students Tuition fee waivers (partial)
Refugee backgrounds Granted based on need
Students with physical/learning disabilities Candidates must show: Strong leadership potential Clear mission High impact potential Not repayable
Hold for the duration of the study

Limited scholarship slots per intake.
Applicants not eligible for a scholarship may still be considered for grants.

Financial Aid Application Steps

Confirm interest in financial aid

Required Supporting Documents (Financial Aid)

You must upload evidence for any claims you make.

All documents must be in English, French, or Kinyarwanda (or certified translations).

Stage 3: ALU Fit Challenge

The final step in the financial aid application process.

You must complete it in one sitting with a stable internet connection.

Once submitted, your application cannot be edited. Admissions Decisions Are Shared Weekly

Possible Outcomes

You still need to submit your Equivalence Certificate before your application can move to conditional/unconditional admission.

You did not meet the minimum entry requirements.

Financial Aid Decision Outcomes

Offered

You have been awarded a scholarship or grant. You must:

Waitlisted

You meet the criteria, but must wait for available slots.
If scholarship slots fill, you may still be considered for grants.

Rejected

Your application did not qualify based on your need and the required documentation. (You may still enroll as a self-funded student.)
