New beginnings can be tough but hopefully you’ll like this one. Welcome to Africa Speaks, the first ever podcast hosted by the ALU community. Inspired by how many members of the community – faculty, staff and students, moved miles away from their homes to build the university of the future, the first episode centers on new beginnings.
We talk about the emotions that come with having to start afresh and the different things that can be done to make the move easier. The guests are Lisl Foss, ALU’s Principal Psychologist who left the life she had comfortably built in South Africa to move to Mauritius to work at ALU and Safiya Salau, a student from Nigeria whose desire to make her continent better brought her to ALU.
The stories and topics discussed on the podcast will give listeners an insight into life and learning at ALU. You will hear about student initiatives, faculty’s interests, what’s happening on campus and more.
Listen to the first episode below and look out for the next one where we speak to two ALU students who have won the Queen’s Young Leaders Award.
