ALU’s Youth Ambassadors – coming to a school near you

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]So far, we have Youth Ambassadors (YARs) in Kenya, Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal, Burundi, Rwanda, Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland and Tanzania. Their primary role is to help spread the word about ALU by doing school visits and talking to students, educators and parents. They will likely be visiting a school near you soon, so please check our social media platforms regularly to learn about upcoming ALU events and presentations in your area.

We believe that our YARs are a truly remarkable group of young people. Because of the great relationship we have with our sister school African Leadership Academy (ALA), we were able to recruit 8 alumni from ALA YARs so far who will be representing their countries. They come highly prepared (having graduated from ALA’s renowned leadership program), and embody the intelligence and ingenuity that ALU strives to instill in all young Africans. We are working to grow our group of YARs to 15 by the end of the year (more info below), and are already seeing how important a role they play in ALU’s growth.

One thing we’re particularly excited about is how much the YAR program aligns with ALU’s education model – offering exciting internship opportunities that give young people real-world work experience doing something meaningful (while helping them build the skills they need to succeed in the workplace). We’ll be working with all our corporate partners to help create similar experiences for ALU students in their annual internships – for when we give youth the right opportunities, they are truly empowered to shine.

Applications for more YARs are still open and we are truly excited about the quality of people who are applying. We are looking for people who, like ALU, are passionate about the growth and development of the continent as well as the next generation of African leaders. They will need to be young, energetic and looking for experience and exposure. The ideal candidate is a young high-school graduate (18-20) who’s well-spoken, active on social media, highly creative, and willing to dedicate a year to this (as it’s a 1-year internship). If you come from Nigeria (Abuja), Tunisia, Ghana or Mozambique in particular (where we have great need for a YAR), we’d love to hear from you.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
